What we are looking for in an individual:
- A passion for learning and self development
- An eye for detail and excellent communication and time management skills
- A genuine passion for helping our customers understand how technology can help them work better (and where it is just pointless bells and whistles)
- Someone who wants to work in a friendly and entrepreneurial environment where you can have a positive impact by working to improve the public sector
Arcus Platform Projects is a small, friendly & diverse team, focussed on delivering business software based around the Salesforce.com platform to a varying and evolving group of customers across the public escort from central government departments to local councils.
As a Technical Consultant in our team, you will work closely with clients to help solve business and technology problems for our customers, supporting them in achieving their goals and introducing them to the full range of products and services Arcus can offer.
You will use agile methodologies to gather, document and analyse customer requirements. You will then transform these into technical stories, suggest changes and improvements to processes where it provides business benefit, and you will be able to demonstrate how the technology can help deliver this. Convert requirements into scalable Salesforce solutions and break the solution down into tasks to be delivered.
You will then work directly with those customers to deploy, configure and integrate the right blend of Arcus Apps (built on the Force.com platform) and supporting technologies (such as CRM, GIS and document management). Working on multiple concurrent projects, you will contribute to the deliverables for projects including process and functional design, technical architecture, technical design, development and testing.
You will take the lead and work independently on smaller projects and contribute your expertise to larger team projects ensuring you assist in the development of your team members.
Having prior Salesforce experience is clearly advantageous in this role as the platform is based on Salesforce; however we can also provide this training as you go along, using Salesforce gamification based native training solutions and providing in-team knowledge. Having a good working knowledge of CRM platforms and requirements analysis would be a positive addition if the Salesforce experience isn’t pre-existing.
As well as this, having experience in project management would be a highlight in this position as well, as we are looking to develop this further in our team. This would entail: communicating with the customer for which you need to have excellent professional communication skills, managing time spend across projects and reporting on this, working closely with the project management office team to ensure compliance across projects in line with standards, and working with the project delivery lead within each project we manage, to ensure the documentation and reporting is being carried out at the expected stage.
When not in lockdown, you will spend up to half your time travelling to, and working on, client sites across the UK, typically for one or two day workshops. When not on site, you will be based in our office in Cambridge where there will be opportunities for flexible working.
You will need to be flexible in your working approach, and to be comfortable with facing differing structures within local government. Therefore diplomacy and an ability to manage your time and workload is highly desirable.
What are we looking for?

- Proven experience with the delivery of technical projects either as a consultant, freelance or internally.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the proven ability to develop trusted relationships with clients
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong client focus and professional integrity
- Ability to assess your own workload, prioritise tasks appropriately and work within your own initiative in order to achieve a common goal.
