Salesforce Data Specialists analyzes and transfers information from various formats, mostly electronic but sometimes paper, into electronic data systems. They generally oversee the entire data migration process, working closely with clients to ensure that this data is accurate and accessible. A Data Specialist must research data sources to verify validity of the information. Data Specialists might also be responsible for designing databases for specific client use and training clients in the use of data storage and retrieval systems, databases and software. A Data Specialist has the ability to explore unfamiliar data sets and derive meaningful insight as to the shape and quality of the data. This will aid them in assessing the level of cleansing and transformation that will be necessary to migrate the data to it’s target. This person is familiar with the tools available and useful methods to wrangle data and fulfill the project needs. The Data Specialist is also aware of the security classification of data so that proper care can be taken to ensure the data stays safe for our clients. The Data Specialist can also make recommendations and design processes for data governance, back-up and recovery and master data management.


Responsibilities
  • Analyze and verify data
  • Create a data migration program
  • Evaluate existing databases and systems
  • Oversee data mapping processes
  • Create custom solutions
  • Use appropriate tools for data analysis, movement, integration, cleansing and enrichment
  • Generate reports with various Business Intelligence (BI) tools
  • Provide technical support and assistance
  • Lead discussions with client personnel to explore existing data repositories, understand requirements for the data-centric project and collaboratively design the data architecture
Required Skills, Education and Experience
  • Technical Degree preferred
  • 2+ years Data Specialist experience (or a similar role)
  • 2+ years hands-on development experience on the Salesforce platform
  • Minimum of an active Salesforce Administrator or other Salesforce certification required
  • Substantial experience in development of stored procedures and queries
  • Strong skills in SQL and SOQL
  • Operational knowledge of Salesforce apps like Data Loader
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines and work well within a team environment
  • Hands on experience with relational databases; which may be one of MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, IBM, etc.
  • Exhibits humble confidence when speaking with clients during interactions at various points of project lifecycle
  • Show passion to grow professionally, keep up with changing technology trends and a desire to expand their knowledge through self-motivated learning
Additional Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with a programming language appropriate for data wrangling (i.e. Python, Javascript, R, etc.)
  • Familiarity with research designing and statistical forecasting methods
  • Hands on experience with popular data tools in the Salesforce eco-system, including Mulesoft, Tibco Cloud Integration, Jitterbit Harmony, Tableau, Einstein Analytics, Dell Boomi, Informatica, Validity, OwnBackUp, Shield, etc.
  • Hands on experience with cloud infrastructure and platform providers, including Heroku, AWS, GCP and Azure
  • Awareness of machine learning and AI techniques and their application in business use cases
  • Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases; which may be one of MongoDB, Firestore, Redis, Couchbase, Elasticsearch, Amazon Dynamo DB, etc.
