CAREERS THAT CHANGE LIVES
We believe that when people from different cultures, genders, and points of view come together, innovation is the result —and everyone wins. Medtronic walks the walk, creating an inclusive culture where you can thrive.
The Diabetes Operating Unit focuses on improving the lives of those within the global diabetes community. As a business, we strive to empower people with diabetes to live life on their terms by delivering innovation that truly matters and providing support in the ways they need it. We’re committed to meeting people with diabetes where they are in their journey, always with an aim to make their lives easier. Our portfolio of innovative solutions are designed to provide customers greater freedom and better health, helping them achieve better glucose control, while spending less time managing their disease.
The Salesforce Architect role leads key activities to bridge the business need to technology, by creating and delivering CRM and workflow solutions using various Salesforce Cloud technologies. This individual contributor role will own the solution architecture of the Medtronic-Diabetes Salesforce.com platforms and is accountable to create and maintain the solution roadmap of our CRM and eCommerce applications. As a solution architect, the individual will spend most of their time in delivering and overseeing projects, while adhering to enterprise patterns and policies. Autonomy is a must, requiring a high-level of self-motivation. Strong and effective communication skills is a given: the candidate would not have been able to progress to this level in their career without it. Delegation is crucial: the role is a “force multiplier”, allowing the led team to produce more with the same amount of effort, due to the knowledge and experience of the Salesforce architect.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Act like a Consultant: Don’t wait for tasks to be given to you. Find and understand opportunities and use your persuasive people and technology skills to convince business and IT leaders that you have the solution that they are looking for.
  • Think Big: Deliver solutions that are scalable and maintainable…act as if you will be with the company for ten years and would be expected to be the owner of the product you helped to deliver. Think long-range impacts!
  • Think Detailed: Take big, broad programs and effectively decompose into deliverable pieces that developers and business can understand and execute.
  • Think Ahead: Use your proven experience and past relationships to anticipate future functional and technical obstacles in the Salesforce.com technology space and find ways to go around it, or thru it if necessary.
  • Communicate Broadly: Create and proffer both verbal and written briefings to key stakeholders to explain complex problems and situations in their language. Then turn around and communicate to the developers in their lingo for execution.
  • Create Relationships: You will have to create strong relationships with business executives, to build a level of trust and understanding.
  • Advocate for Developers: Remember where you came from. Find opportunities to improve how “work is done” by using automation and simplification as much as possible. Mentor prospective technical leaders to go beyond what they just do today.
