PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Salesforce Marketing Cloud Consultant will be responsible for new platform implementations and ongoing support of client campaigns within Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This position is part of a client-facing team with a primary focus of hands-on execution of high-quality marketing automation solutions.


JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement, design, develop and deliver cross-channel marketing automation solutions using all modules in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) platform including but not limited to Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder, Contact Builder, Cloud Pages, Mobile Push, Mobile Connect, and Marketing Cloud Personalization (MCP; formerly Interaction Studio)

  • Coordinate new platform implementations:
    • Engage with business stakeholders to understand and gather requirements, convert requirements to technical design, develop, and implement while collaborating with other technical and business areas
    • Understand Marketing Cloud Connector, associated sync criteria and relationships with Salesforce CRM
    • Employ best practices as it relates to subscriber and data management, data extensions, profile center, custom preference centers, email regulations
    • Gather and translate business requirements into a technical solution and implement the solution in an accurate, efficient and reliable manner
  • Provide ongoing platform support and client enablement:
    • Execute marketing automation, email marketing and content strategies for campaign execution. Design and execute marketing and email programs which may include any of the following: triggered email sends, automations, multi-channel integrations, audience segmentation, Einstein AI functionality, personalization and dynamic content landing pages, and complex marketing journeys using entry events and decision splits leveraging criteria
    • Code, configure, test, and debug Cloud Pages. Create and update landing pages and microsites
    • Support Marketing Cloud campaign initiatives with custom SQL queries, custom automations, and comprehensive customer journeys with decision splits and a/b testing
  • Email Studio:
    • Develop and maintain a suite of HTML email templates and AMPscript based dynamic templates. Ensure proper email rendering across varying email clients / devices. Leverage drag and drop design where appropriate. Build emails and dynamic content blocks using HTML and CSS following web accessibility guidelines and mobile responsive design best practices. Design, optimize, and execute campaigns using strategies such as A/B testing and personalization
  • Leverage AMPscript and other SFMC scripting languages for email and web page personalization:
    • Utilize UI best practices and front-end web technologies: SSJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript / jQuery
  • Journey Builder:
    • Develop and deliver multi-touch / multi-channel communications, build recurring campaigns / customer journeys (including entry criteria logic). Set up complex triggered sends, automations, and journey communications flows
  • Automation Studio:
    • Enable and execute marketing automations, create and manage SQL queries to segment audiences, power journeys and support marketing campaigns. Build custom queries, AMPscript-based scripts, and automation jobs
  • Mobile Studio:
    • Create and deploy Mobile Push templates and Mobile Connect SMS campaigns
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Configure API integration to trigger email communication (triggered sends) utilizing SSJS, AMPscript, REST and SOAP API integrations
    • Develop advanced segmentation, reporting and analytics, and data configuration
    • Translate business and marketing challenges into well-designed solutions
    • Stay current with rapidly developing Salesforce ecosystem
    • Inform project team of status and time estimates for work on a regular basis
    • Demonstrate technical expertise while scoping and driving the creation of digital solutions, email campaigns, email reporting, and data integration
    • Understand requirements, build and maintain automated marketing campaign program flows
    • Conduct solutions testing and validation

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science or a related technology field with 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on Marketing Cloud experience across the full SFMC platform, with experience developing solutions in the following: Email Studio, Mobile Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio and Contact Builder
  • Hands-on experience with email marketing best practices including list segmentation, A/B testing, build, QA, deployment and reporting
  • Documented experience developing and executing custom campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, particularly with building custom queries, dynamic email templates utilizing AMPscript, and custom Cloud Page solutions
  • Proficiency in coding and programming applications in HTML (specifically for building emails and email templates), DHTML, CSS
  • Advanced knowledge of AMPscript
  • Experience with email rendering across varying email clients and devices utilizing third party services like Litmus or Email on Acid
  • Understand of how content is personalized, made dynamic, and leveraged for channel and experience activation across omni-channels
  • Experience with marketing automation concepts and technologies in email, mobile, social (advertising/retargeting), and web
  • Experience with Advertising Studio, Audience Studio, Datorama are a plus
  • Experience implementing automated solutions utilizing Marketing Cloud Server-Side Java Script (SSJS)
  • Minimum of three years' experience with SQL Server 2008 or above
  • Expert understanding the primary SFMC contact data model and architecture
  • Familiarity with data architecture/schema, including relational data models and SQL syntax, documentation of data models, and data flows
  • Strong knowledge and use of APIs, data import (SFTP), REST/SOAP web services
  • Knowledge of Salesforce Sales or Service Cloud (SFDC) is a plus
  • Experience working with architecture and process flow visualization applications such as MS Visio, Lucid Chart, or diagramming tools within Google Slides or PowerPoint
  • Experience with Interaction Studio (Evergage)
  • Experience with Pardot including form handlers and SFDC integration
  • Creating web templates from design files (PSD)
  • Experience with Marketing Cloud Connect
  • Strong background in agile SCRUM agile practices and associated tools
  • Ability to function well in unstructured environments, working with challenging problems
  • Experience in a technical leadership role designing, building, and executing complex projects
