Purpose of Position
The Technical Architect's (TA) main task is to realize particular technical implementation processes. Technical Architects are not only in charge of the implementation of new technologies, they also provide recommendations and inform stakeholders about potential threats. Technical Architects can be in charge of leading large teams of developers and technical professionals. They act as technical project managers who define the structure of a specific system and oversee the related Information Technology (IT) assignments. Out of all IT Architects, they are the closest to an organization’s end user. Thus, they have to ensure that the technology is not only delivered in a timely manner but fully functional for the end user. In order to meet the requirements of both the organization and user, Technical Architects work closely with Solution Architects who create a link between the strategic concept and its technical execution. Technical Architects are specialists in their field and need to be able to first visualize and then implement new technical concepts into an existing system. It is their responsibility to realize the IT project with a development team and define best practices and standards along the way. Furthermore, they inform all parties involved about specific software requirements and associated risks. Ideally, Technical Architects are experienced working with on-premise and cloud native infrastructures and know how to deploy an application in the most effective way. They are accountable for being intimately involved with all technical activities, and for providing architectural direction and leadership on assigned project teams. The job duties include, but are not limited to, developing and documenting high-level solution architectures, scoping, approach, estimation, research, tool evaluation, documenting patterns and standards, defining technology strategy, technology evaluation and recommendation, mentoring through hands-on assistance as well as formal/informal training, and some technical development all while adhering to NetJets technology standards and best practices. Must be able to take high level direction, formulate a plan to achieve the goals and execute the plan. Additionally, must be able to work across project teams, Product Owners, and Enterprise Architects and will be expected to work on multiple tasks and initiatives concurrently.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for designing the structure of new technology systems, overseeing the implementation of programs, and liaising with the software development team.
  • Conducting an evaluation of the system architecture with an emphasis on the design.
  • Analyzing the system throughout the enterprise system.
  • Creating and maintaining or enhancing procedures, processes and designs.
  • Meeting with the IT Manager to determine the company’s current and future needs.
  • Determining whether the current system can be upgraded or if a new system needs to be installed.
  • Providing the enterprise with design ideas and schematics.
  • Project managing the design and implementation of the system.
  • Meeting with software developers to discuss the system software needs.
  • Troubleshooting systems issues as they arise.
  • Overseeing all the moving parts of the system integration.
  • Measuring the performance of the upgraded or newly installed system.
  • Training staff on system procedures.
  • Providing the company with post-installation feedback.
  • Ensuring that the application architecture team can deliver system solutions
  • Be intimately involved with all technical activities and provide architectural direction and leadership on assigned project teams. Additionally, remaining current with regards to architecture and technology trends and help drive change based upon emerging opportunities.
  • Drive the scoping, estimation, and the development/documenting of high-level solution architectures for new projects.
  • Effectively interact/communicate with business users regarding requirements, design reviews, prototype presentations, etc.
  • Provide technical and process coaching/mentoring of project team members regarding the understanding of technologies and processes, which may include leading a Center of Excellence.

Bachelor's in Computer Science or Information System Engineering

  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms, AWS, Salesforce, SAP
  • Experience with Agile software development processes

  • Exhibit high degree of self-management
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • NetJets is a 24/7/365 operation and the job will require evening/weekend work to meet expectations
  • Experience in designing and developing distributed enterprise solutions
  • Experience with web solutions and relational database architectures
  • In-depth knowledge working with and managing Git (Bitbucket, Github, CodeCommit)
  • Experience developing secure solutions, including familiarity with security standards like SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect
  • Experience designing and building reusable APIs using OpenAPI, GraphQL or ODATA
  • Experience with integration tools and best practices
  • Knowledge of NoSQL and GraphDB concepts
  • Knowledge/experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS
  • Experience with Nexus/PyPi/NPM
