Position summary


The Salesforce (Opportunities to Booking) Product Owner will join a team of PO’s to own of F5’s Technology Services capabilities ensuring Sales teams can process customer relating activities and process subscription bookings. They will be continually improving and pioneering new features to improve ease of use for our internal and external customers and increase automation and efficiency to meet the growing demands of time-to-market velocity and for applications ease of use by sales teams selling F5 products. 

 F5 Product Owners are a key member of our Agile Scrum teams that develop technology solutions for vital functions within F5, such as product management, sales, services, accounting. The mission of Technology Services is to build a more responsive, nimble and agile F5, supporting internal and external customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities 
  • Advocate and champion for product managers across BU’s and the sales teams Opportunities to Booking needs
  • Advocate and champion for standardization to drive automation and scale
  • Understand the selling process and ability to ensure the functional needs are represented in the application solutions (e.g., Salesforce and Oracle CPQ)
  • Analyze data for insights to measure return on investment and inform business case on new features and improvements
  • Represent the user and business to your Scrum teams, rallying the team around product goals and user needs
  • Participate in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies
  • Articulate and refine requirements / stories and define acceptance criteria in a manner understandable to the Agile Scrum / Kanban Team (e.g., INVEST)
  • Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog for your teams
  • Make/drive timely tradeoff decisions throughout the development process
  • Define sprint and quarterly goals and objectives with the teams
  • Demonstrate products to stakeholders
  • Identify and manage dependencies across teams within the product / solution
  • Partner with relevant teams to prepare for quarterly “big room” planning events
  • Convene and facilitate technical discussions with engineering as part of articulating and refining requirements and understanding engineering realities
  • Communicate trade-offs between customer expectations and engineering realities to stakeholders and align on prioritization
  • Stay up to date on relevant industry trends and best practices and constantly exchange ideas
  • Advocate effectively for work to address tech debt when needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Demonstrates effective team dynamics, conflict resolution, mentoring, and servant leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce (Lightning Edition) and supporting apps
  • Experience within a SAFe or Agile methodology and utilizing Agile practices
  • Effective at representing the user and business to the team from a solid foundation of deep user understanding and knowledge of the business
  • Unafraid to dig deep into data
  • Strong facilitation skills within teams and ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence others internally and externally
  • Experience resolving issues with higher levels of management
  • Balance of technical and business acumen; able to communicate what is possible and what will have the biggest impact on business.
  • Be familiar with modern software engineering practices, such as CI / CD, DevOps, test driven development, etc.
  • Knows enough about software development and architecture be a good dance partner for engineers
  • Understands and effectively advocates for non-functional requirements (NFRs), performance standards, security standards and the need to refactor
  • Learns quickly what’s easy vs hard
  • Skilled viewing challenges from both the “forest” and the “tree” views
  • Is a problem solver not a problem “alerter”
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner on an Agile Scrum team, preferably in SAFe, on solutions supporting sales, finance, or other internal support functions
  • 5+ years of experience working with a diverse set of partners such as sales, engineering, legal, customer success, data science, marketing etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or related field
